Hey there Michelle
This week is the start of a brand new section in the newsletter called "Karen Says". I've come across a few things of recent times which have very little to do with music, but that I think you may be interested in. Fairly much things I think are a bit of a find. Should you have anything you would like to suggest for this section - please flick me a line.
Please feel free to forward on this week's hit of Music Industry Info! And/or reprint part or all of the newsletter with a credit to Temple NZ Music Industry Info Bulletin www.temple.co.nz.
Back issues are at www.temple.co.nz
If you have anything you would like included (FREE!) in the next newsletter, please flick me an email by Friday . I don't include gig listings, sorry, unless it involves an "opportunity" eg open mics
I've also ditched the category listing at the top of the newsletter, because it take up too much room
======================================================================= =======================================================================
1/ Karen Says I have recently come across a great guy called Tim from whom I buy awesome Organic Fair-Trade coffee beans for only $25 per kg + courier (about $5)!! I believe he also does green coffee beans for $15 per kg if you are a DIY type. Flick him a line at governorscafe@xtra.co.nz
======================================================================= =======================================================================
2/ Open mics and jams
I only include additions or changes in this section these days. All other known open mics are at http://www.temple.co.nz/Temple_OpenMics.htm. If there are any errors in the listing on the website or anything you'd like to add - please email me at karen@temple.co.nz
The Auckland Singer/Songwriters Collective is moving to a new venue and day of the week. Our next meeting will be on Monday 25 June at the Grand Central, 126 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby. An "open mic" night has been running successfully for some time at the Grand Central every Monday from 8.30 pm, and because we are keen to link the Singer/Songwriters group meetings with the opportunity to perform at an open mic, we will be holding our next meeting there from 7 pm. Thereafter meetings will be held every 3rd Monday of the month (the next dates being 16 July and 20 August). The "task" from the last meeting was to write a song about a story you have read in the newspaper (or it could be a magazine or even a TV news item...). Everyone is welcome to be part of the group, no matter what level of experience or ability. Bring along the task, if you have come up with anything, or any other songs you may be working on or want feedback/critique of (if possible bring a few copies of the lyrics to pass around). Any queries contact: Fiona McEwen truegreens@xtra.co.nz ph 826 4615 or Wendy Morris andywendy@orcon.net.nz ph (09) 424 3316

The Nut Point Gallery in West Melton is a clay sculpting, Pottery and art gallery owned and run by John Allan. After being let down by a couple of artists already one now has to sign a contract to guarantee appearing. The website is www.nutpointgallery.com/ and contact details can be found there.
The Waikanae Ladies Choir is looking for more singers. Rehearsals are every Monday afternoon. For more info, contact Mrs Beechey 04 904 3653 or Helen Booth ph 04 904 8959.

hello auckland musicians! I'm starting a new band and I'm looking for talented boys and girls to make good music with. I'm a 24 year old singer/songwriter/ guitarist /electronic music producer and dj (that's not meant to sound as wanky as it looks!) Two of my very good friends (my ex-band mates) are following a calling to explore different horizons over land and sea so my last band has gone on an extended hiatus. I meanwhile was going to be heading off to Sydney for a wee while to stretch my legs and do some solo producing (electronica, house etc.) and Dj'ing but I have decided to stay put and dig my feet in a second time around here in our fair city of sails. In the interest of keeping this short and sweet....I enjoy a lot of music....and I am influenced by even more...but one would be safe to say that the main "meat and potatoes" of my musical meal is mostly made up of Alt-Rock and Dance music. As for what musical "style" or "direction" this band will follow? Who knows?! That's part of the fun isn't it? Ideally looking for mature, open-minded, fun and easy going band mates who appreciate the camaraderie of a band as much as making its music. Drummers, Bassists, Keyboards/Synth/Electronic Wizards and guitarists PLEASE feel free to get in touch if you want to have a yarn, jam or want to know a bit more. Cheers, ck kloppsta@hotmail.com
