I've been into music since before I was born (my mum said that I didn't sleep when I was younger so she just started to put the radio on and bang, i was out to it).

My little, little brother is a DJ, and my younger brother is of course Brendan (our singer in KnifeParty).

My parents never played any instruments, but there was always a lot of great music around the house. Everything from the bee Gees through to Sabbath.

My mum made me play piano for a few years but I hated it (until i heard November Rain from Guns N Roses)

Duran Duran where the band that made me want to play a guitar, but I didn't have a guitar and didn't know where to start.

Then I remember the first time I heard Slayers Rein in blood and it was all to hell from there...A friend tried to teach me angel of death (on an accoustic!!!!) but that was a joke so he taught me the bass line instead so we could both jam it.

From there Nirvana came out and changed my life. it was cool, cause a total novice guitarist like me could now play with out know all the theory crap.

I got into bass for quite a long time, played in a sh*t load of sh*tty bands (but had the absolute time of my life). Over time, I left bands, joined other bands and decided to start to play guitar after reading that Billie Joe (Green Day) only knew a E and G when he started Green Day.

one of the bands I was in was offered a gig at the Valve in Wellington and we were all ready for it when the band fell apart two weeks before the gig. i had organised the gig so didn't want to stand Greg up, so I called my old old old friend mole to see if he could play drums for the gig. He was keen. We couldn't find a bass player (and where gonna do the gig without a bassplayer for a while!!!!). And then we thought of the bogon from hell james. I hadn't talked to James in about 5 years (even though he lived 5minutes away from me)...so we made the call and I got rhythm section. We didn't know what to play, so we started jamming old Deftone songs for fun and then from the first note we played I knew that this was the sh*t!!!

haven't loooked back since

Where do i begin.

I might as well just copy and paste pauls story, but change the intruments.

I joined the intermidiate school band in form 1 playing the trumpet. I liked that it was the loudest thing i could get my hands on. After playing for a good year, i got many recommendations and awards for playing the trumpet at intermidiate level, and then joined a symphony band, meeting this nice boy paul, who played saxophone, and 2 other very nice boys on clarinet and saxophone. We got talking, and i realised that these boys all had other intruments that they played and enjoyed even more than playing in the symphony.

After about 4 years in this symphony, i got my first guitar (only last year), a 95$ acoustic with nylon strings. I played it everyday for about 6 months, and then bought my first real guitar with my own money. A limited edition BC RICH Ice Mockingbird. I problem only bought it because it was so damn sexy, but hey, i loved the guitar.

I also then found out that paul and these other nice boys were actually in a band! And being there friends, and loving music, i asked if i could come have a watch, they agreed.

After playing guitar for a good 9 months, and still being absolutely HOPELESS, i realised it wasnt really for me. So i want to a practice, listened to a jam the boys had, and made up a song on the spot..............lets see what happens next
